October 21, 2010 –
U.S. Highway 50 Widening
Improves Access to Union Corporate Center, the Area's
"Premier" Industrial Park.
On October 1st, the citizens of the City of
Union and those who pass through Union along U.S.
Highway 50 celebrated the widening of a 1.5 mile section
of Highway 50 with an official ribbon cutting. The
event was well attended by local elected officials, as
well as, representatives from the offices of Senator
Bond and Senator McCaskill.
The widening of Highway 50 included the
reconstruction of the intersection of Prairie Dell Road,
which will alleviate congestion in this highly traveled
area and enable the approximate 4,500 students at East
Central College to enter and exit the college’s campus
more safely.
In addition, the intersection with
Progress Parkway was completed. This completed
intersection allows direct access to the Union Corporate
Center, a 160 acre industrial park, owned by the Union
Development Corporation. Union Development Corporation
President Bob Borgmann stated, “The completion of the
Progress Parkway intersection will enable our
organization to further market the area’s “premier”
industrial park and eventually create a number of new
jobs for the citizens of Union and Missourians.”
Representatives of the St. Louis Regional Chamber and
Growth Association and economic development officials
have labeled Union Corporate Center the area’s “premier”
greenfield site. For more information about Union
Corporate Center, visit

The widening project was funded by MODoT,
